A membrane housing, also known as a membrane pressure vessel, is a cylindrical component that securely holds and protects one or more membrane elements in a membrane filtration & separation system.
Seadon’s SS membrane housings are the backbone of advanced filtration systems across multiple industries, enabling processes like filtration, separation, concentration, and purification. Whether you’re building RO, nanofiltration (NF), ultrafiltration (UF), or microfiltration (MF) systems, our housings deliver the performance you need.
Our 3-A certified sanitary SS membrane housings ensure compliance with hygiene standards, making them ideal for filtration in food, beverage, and dairy processing. Achieve pure, safe products while meeting regulatory requirements
Support bioprocessing with housings that provide crevice-free surfaces and corrosion-resistant materials, preventing microbial growth and ensuring product integrity
Designed for clean-in-place (CIP) and thermal disinfection (up to 85°C), our housings meet USP, cGMP, and FDA standards, ensuring your purified water and water-for-injection systems maintain uncompromising quality
At Seadon, we understand that compliance is non-negotiable. Our SS membrane housings are backed by certifications that give you peace of mind and simplify your procurement process.

The pressure ratings for membrane housings are typically categorized into several levels based on the requirements of different membrane elements: 150 psi, 300 psi, 600 psi, 1000 psi, and 1500 psi.
For specific systems, commercial RO systems range from 150~300 psi (10~20 bar) for small to medium-scale purification. Industrial RO systems typically handle 300~600 psi (20~41 bar), with ratings up to 1000~1500 psi (69~103 bar) for high-pressure applications like seawater desalination. NF and UF systems, requiring less stringent filtration, usually operate at 50~300 psi (3~20 bar).
Stainless steel membrane housings typically have an operating range that can handle temperatures from -20°C to 100°C (or -4°F to 212°F), depending on the material and design. Some specialized housings can withstand even higher temperatures, particularly when designed for industrial or chemical applications.
For the specific temperature range, please refer to the technical data sheet of different model membrane housings.
When operating Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems, stainless steel membrane housings are often exposed to elevated temperatures to ensure effective sterilization and cleaning. Typically, hot CIP sanitization involves heating the cleaning solution to 80~85°C (176~185°F) for 30~60 minutes. To prevent damage, verify that the housing can withstand these temperature spikes without compromising the integrity of seals or the structure itself. Additionally, confirm that the housing materials are compatible with the cleaning chemicals used at these elevated temperatures. Since different membrane housing models have varying temperature tolerances due to their design, always consult the technical data sheet for specific temperature limits and guidelines.
